ALAN DERSHOWITZ

Professor Emeritus,
Harvard Law School

Professor Dershowitz was the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School where he taught for 50 years. He deeply understands the dynamics of the academy and the challenges for pro-Israel voices. A singular, courageous defender of free speech, he has, for over 30 years, been a friend, mentor and supporter of CAMERA and its dedication to the truth about Israel and the Jewish people.

Professor Dershowitz shares our concern about rising anti- Semitism and anti-Zionism, the imperative to act in every way possible to counter the bigotry, and the central role CAMERA can play promoting ethical, accurate depictions of Israel in the classroom.

Stotsky lectures widely about Middle East media coverage and was interviewed on CNN about the topic.

The Problem

CAMERA’s International Student Leadership Institute was developed as a response to the interrelated problems of anti-Israel and antisemitic teaching in higher education across the globe and K-12 public schools in the United States. Decades of misinformation on college campuses have produced a generation of school educators and administrators now implementing curricula that distort or denigrate Jewish history and cultural identity. Guided by these educators, students learn contempt for the state of Israel as well as opposition to its legitimate existence and to those who support it.

The Mission

CAMERA’s mission is to help parents and students whose colleges and K-12 schools are purveying misinformation about Israel and the Jewish people. Using a combination of strategies—such as documenting bias in classroom syllabi, textbooks and curricula; publicly exposing erroneous educational materials; providing accurate educational content; directly assisting parents and families facing prejudice; and offering informational meetings, conferences and workshops—we empower individuals and wider communities to counter bias in the educational system.

The vision

CAMERA’s vision is to create an enlightened school and campus experience for all students of every background that recognizes key facts about the Jewish people and the state of Israel and affirms Jewish youth as equal members whose views can be voiced and heard. We believe that the best way to oppose biased teaching is by promoting three vital educational values: viewpoint diversity, evidence-based argumentation, and transparency in all curricular materials used in taxpayer-funded schools.

What Makes Us Different

CAMERA’s activist approach and authoritative, data-driven materials are rooted in 40 years of expertise focused on the Arab-Israeli conflict and related Jewish issues. We connect parents and students to this deep well of knowledge, decades of experience with students on campus, and our commitment to countering falsehoods with factual truth. The Institute’s activities will provide families with informational, emotional and community assistance as they engage with schools and colleges.

It’s time to stop
the indoctrination
